...MAJOR WINTER STORM NORTHWEST OF THE FOX VALLEY TONIGHT AND SUNDAY...
 
.A powerful winter storm will move from eastern Iowa to northern
Lake Michigan overnight and bring heavy snow to north central
Wisconsin and a band of significant mixed precipitation from
central through far northeast Wisconsin.
 
Strong west winds are expected Sunday as the storm center continues
to intensify and move slowly away. Winds are expected to gust to 55
mph in the Fox Valley and lakeshore counties, and to 40 to 50 mph
elsewhere. The strong winds will create blowing and drifting snow
in areas that receive significant snowfall tonight. The winds could
also bring down ice coated tree branches and wires in central and
northeast Wisconsin and cause power outages.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST SUNDAY...
* WHAT...Total snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches expected,
with up to a quarter inch of glaze from freezing rain. The
heaviest snow will occur west of Wausau, with the greatest
potential for significant icing east of Wausau. Winds gusting
as high as 45 mph Sunday.
 
* WHERE...Marathon and Wood Counties.
 
* WHEN...Until 6 PM CST Sunday.
 
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel could be very difficult. Areas of
blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty
winds could bring down tree branches and result in power
outages.
 
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you
must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your
vehicle in case of an emergency.
