Coming to a Sky Near You!

This meteor shower will radiate from the constellation 'Leo the Lion' and will peak November 17th-18th. The best time to see it will be from midnight through dawn the morning of November 18th.

The rate of the meteors waxes and wanes with the return of the parent comet (Temple-Tuttle), from 10 to 20 per hour, up to thousands per hour during some of the peak years. The last peak year was in 2001. This year we should be on the lower end of the scale and see about 10 to 20 per hour. The meteors will appear mostly bluish or white in color but because of the speed at which these meteors travel they have higher odds of fireballs (exceptionally bright meteors).

If you happen to see a shooting star, don't forget to close your eyes and make a wish. But shhh, don't tell anyone what it is!!!
